3-5 hrs daily practice?

Hey all,

I’m just starting out here on his path to learning front-end development. (I’m a UI designer, so this is an excellent addition to what I already know about front-end design.) But I need to speak to something.

As with anything new, processes and programs take time to learn. Mosh mentioned that with 3-5 hrs daily within 6 weeks, you can master CSS/HTML and then move on to Javascript. It could be me overthinking it, but I don’t have 3-5 hrs daily. Just wanted to say that. Even though I’m using this time in between jobs while looking for work, increasing my knowledge base, and learning something new, I still don’t have 3-5 hrs daily. A little deflating, but again, I could be overthinking this one.

Glad to be here and excited to learn!

Thanks for reading,
Brian

I didn’t spend 3-5 hours daily at first, did i learn anything? Hell yeah i did, did it take a little longer to learn? Yeah it did, but it was well worth the effort. The road less traveled is full of sites unseen. Use it as an opportunity to retain more info cause you’re not cramming.

Learn so that you can be where you want to be, not so you will get better at what your doing, and you’ll succeed.

Good advice - thank you!

Hi,

When I was jobless, 3 to 5 hrs was how much time I was spending in any code editor/IDE. This means I was actually spending more on the subject.
My GitHub was blinking green almost daily. Now should I commit once a month is quite not too bad.

That’s a bit like the dev beard meme. You get the idea.

I have little to no time for that, though I want to learn further. And free time is mainly for resting. especially now with sunny days, blue sky and a lil’ fresh breeze as cherry (not pick) on the top. So subjects I want to learn just pile up.

That might sound not ideal, but having been through depression for years, I know overdoing it is not the way. I learnt it is ( or at least should) not (be) a sprint but a marathon.

Fortunately this is behind me right now but finding a job is not easy and asks for quite some efforts too. Sure thing you can’t spend that much time with a job. And you don’t need to put that much time even as jobless person.
If you spend less time a day, that just means it would last longer.
Things just takes time to learn. Especially when you are already busy with any occupation/task.

So feel free to adjust the amount of work on daily/weekly basis.
Good luck.

Cheers.
