[Python 3.10.6 in windows 10]
Cntl + Alt + n opens the code runner terminal, but shows error. I am unable to understand why.
When the same code is run via (Cntl + ~ ) it shows the correct results.

For anyone that comes to this thread looking for answers.
Here is a recent video (Early 2022) Where someone did a good job of amending the code-runner.
Just be aware that as with everything else this might be out of date so just search
visual studio code python code-runner.executormap in youtube and you’ll find more recent videos
