Ctrl-backtick is supposed to open the terminal. If you’re not on a QWERTY keyboard, try Ctrl-<Key left to the 1 key>. If that doesn’t work, use the menu Terminal/New Terminal. There might be a different keyboard shortcut next to “New Terminal” in the menu that works on your machine.
