# React Native Advanced - Register a new user (PLEASE HELP)

I’ve been trying to get my RegisterScreen to work when sending a post request to the backend for registering a new user. I’m debugging in React Native tools but I still don’t know how to debug going line by line through my app code (VScode debugger for React Native tools doesn’t work, neither does chrome debug for React Native). Uggh, debugging in React Native is my #1 major pain.

For some reason, my App is sending the data and receiving a response from the server. However, the error message is not being rendered on the RegisterScreen. When a new user is successfully created, nothing is happening on the UI.

The error message I see on the UI is - An unhandled error was caught from submitForm()

I’m dumb…The next video solved this.

had to modify the useApi hook to return the response object
